THE CAT DEVON REX
History of Devon Rex
It is in England, in the Devonshire that the race appeared. In 1960, Miss Cox discovered nearly a rushed kitten with curly fur. She decided to adopt her and he was crossed with a tricolor pussy who gave a kirlee male too, named Kirlee.
There was already a breed of curly haired cats named Cornish Rex. She made contact with a breeder of this breed and offered Kirlee to improve his cats. All kittens born from Kirlee, however, had stiff hair. It was understood that the gene responsible for this fur was not the same in Kornish Rex and Kirlee. In order to fix this particular mutant gene, Kirlee was reproduced with a lot of consanguinity .. It was only in 1979 that the Devon Rex was recognized as a full breed, totally different from Cornish Rex.
CHARACTERISTICS
The Devon Rex cat is a medium-sized cat breed. His head is small in relation to the body, he has big ears, prominent cheekbones a short muzzle and large oval eyes, which gives him his typical lugkin air.
His body is fine and muscular, with a wide chest and a thin neckline. The paws are pretty high and thin, small and well rounded feet.
Its fur consists only of three types of hair (sub-hair, jar hair and cover hair). It is fully curly and the density of the hair varies, it is thicker on the upper parts (head, back, tail, …), belly and chest are for example with finer hair. The mustaches are rare, short and fried as well. You really have to touch one devon to never forgot his sweetness.
